Water Treatment Works Large Jib Crane for Pump Removal

Brief:      Supply and fit a large 5m high x 8m radius 2 tonne swing jib crane with powered slew and electric hoist. All suitable for coastal exposed conditions.

What we did:     The customer contacted our design department with a requirement to remove pump motors spread across two wells. A number of ideas were discussed including the provision of a full crane system; curved freestanding runways and finally a swing jib crane. Following initial conversations it was discovered that in addition to the normal problems associated with the lifting aspect there was an added issue with its location in that aesthetics would also come into play. The advantages of a swing jib crane were highlighted to the customer and a quotation prepared. As with many utility contracts of this nature a purchase order was received approximately 2 years after the initial design phase.
